Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprint Organizers Seek Volunteers

The event, held at T.C. Williams, is one of the largest indoor rowing events in the world.

Organizers of the 28th annual Mid-Atlantic Erg Sprints are looking for volunteers.

The event, held at T.C. Williams High School on Feb. 2 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., is the second largest indoor rowing competition in the world, according to its organizers.

Last year, 1,572 athletes from 56 high schools, 38 rowing clubs, 10 colleges and six fitness clubs competed in the event.

The sprints were staffed by 210 volunteers in 2012 – 160 adults and 50 students.

Jeff Byron, erg sprint director, said he hopes even more volunteers will step forward for this year’s event.
