Portions of the funds raised by this year’s race will also go toward the Miracle League of Alexandria’s efforts to build a rubberized baseball diamond so participants of the Therapeutic Recreation Program can safely play.
Race participants can run or walk the 5K course through Rosemont and Del Ray that begins and ends at George Washington Middle School.
Race registration can be completed online at the Kelley Cares Foundation website. The registration fee is $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 6 to 12. There is no registration fee for children 5 years old and younger. Participants may also register on race day by cash, check or charge.
Strollers and dogs are allowed in the race, but must start toward the back of the pack. Dogs also require a $5 increase in the registration fee and owners are required to keep their canines on a short leash. Bicycles, scooters and skates are prohibited.
The Kelley Cares Foundation was formed in the memory of Kelley Swanson, a T.C. Williams High School graduate and an active volunteer for the Therapeutic Recreation Program’s Youth Opportunity Sports program.
The Therapeutic Recreation Program provides a full array of programs and services for Alexandria residents with disabilities.
