Huskies' Title Run Came Through T.C. Williams

Connecticut, Butler practiced at Titans gym during first week of NCAA Tournament

Connecticut's run of 11 consecutive victories to claim the the Big East and NCAA titles represents one of the more remarkable feats in the history of college basketball.

The Huskies won five games in five days to claim the Big East title, then made their way through the NCAA field, topping Butler 53-41 in the final on Monday night, to claim the school's third national title.

But did you know the Huskies made a stop at in the middle of their historic run?

Connecticut played its first two NCAA Tournament games—wins over Bucknell and Cincinnati—at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The Huskies snuck in some practice at The Garden several times throughout their time in town.

On Tuesday morning, T.C. Williams employee Patty Moran passed on this March 16 photo of the Huskies with school principal Suzanne Maxey.

Butler, which also started the tournament in the District and shared a hotel with Connecticut, stopped by T.C. Williams for practice after the Huskies coaching staff passed on word about the gym.

Moran suggested a new motto for the school: "T.C. Williams... Where the NCAA magic begins!"
