GEORGETOWN — EnviRelation has been quietly collecting truckloads of food waste in the Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland region over the past five years. And Georgetown businesses, Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., Sweetgreen and the Four Seasons have enlisted the company to collect their kitchen scraps and wasted or unused food products.
ROSSLYN — Two men, one apprently armed with a gun, robbed the BB&T bank on the 1900 block of N. Fort Myer Drive in Rosslyn at around 1:40 p.m. on Wednesday and are still at large, according to a report from ARLnow. The same report suggests that the men dropped stolen money in the parking lot of the adjacent Holiday Inn after a dye pack exploded.
OLD TOWN — A new business tax system implemented by the City of Alexandria last year means there are some changes for businesses that must apply for license renewal and the application process.
HUNTINGTON — Walmart plans to reduce the amount of sugar and salt in the store's products, eliminate trans fats over the next five years and develop a nutritional seal of approval to place on the front of food packages. Walmart's plans will increase consumer awareness about what they are buying.
FORT HUNT — One of the world's most-wanted child sex offenders will finally face the music for his alleged crimes on Monday. Authorities extradited John E. Hamilton, 39, from Poland this week; on Thursday, deputy U.S. Marshals escorted him into the country through Dulles Airport.
MOUNT VERNON — Business professionals from the Mount Vernon area cast their votes for five new board members of the Mount Vernon-Lee Chamber of Commerce at its Annual Meeting and Election Night last night at the Mount Vernon Inn.
