According to a release from the company’s Charlotte, N.C. headquarters, the location is undergoing a complete renovation, including:
…all new flooring; new drywall and paint; updated equipment; wooden display cases; new fixtures; an expanded seating area; an expanded floral department; new prepared food stations including pizza, an Asian hot bar, and a made-to-order sandwich bar; and sustainable décor elements. The Company also re-designed its pharmacy to feature an open floor plan that will allow our pharmacists to better serve their customers.
Arlington County officials said Saturday the county was prepared to do everything in its power, including expediting the permitting process, to help Harris Teeter reopen its store.
The response came when a resident of the Eclipse condominiums delivered 415 signed letters to the Arlington County Board requesting the local government "take any and all actions necessary to hasten the reopening" of the popular grocery store.
“Harris Teeter looks forward to opening its Potomac Yard store and being a part of the community once again,” the release reads. “We appreciate our customers’ patience while the store has been closed as well as their loyalty.”

Yay!
Let's now hope 'Late Fall' isn't a euphemism for December like most construction announcements.

Let's also hope that this store no longer has the proclivity to fill itself with raw sewage.

I realize I'm way, way off topic here, but does anyone else think it's idiotic that you can drive on North Glebe, South Glebe, West Glebe and East Glebe without ever turning? Or take a left onto South Glebe, which is at a 90 degree angle from both West Glebe and South Glebe (pre-turn)? I was aksed for directions the other day by some out-of-towners who were quite lost because of this. I'm sure Mr. Glebe was a nice guy, whoever he was, but has there ever been any serious consideration given to renaming one or more these roads? If nothing else that mile or two stretch of South Glebe between the Harris Teeter and South/West Glebe could easily be renamed.

That's a good question, Lewis. I'm not sure, but I will tell you it's not named after any person named Glebe. A glebe is a portion of land owned by a parish church. The road—or at least one of them—traversed the glebes owned by the ministers of The Falls Church (in Falls Church) and Christ Church (in Alexandria). It's older than the American Revolution, I believe.

Thanks, Drew. The excessive usage makes more sense now. Still highly confusing for unfamiliar drivers.

I guess that beats a sign stating "free poop."
