Happy Tart Celebrating One-Year Anniversary

The Happy Tart is celebrating its one-year anniversary on Saturday with a day of treats and fun.
“Hard to believe, but a year has passed since we opened our doors on a cold January day with sleet on the ground,” owner Emma Cech wrote in an email to customers. “We have come a long way in a year. We started with one display case, we now have four; one baker, we now have five!”
Cech opened her gluten-free bakery at 2307A Mount Vernon Ave. on Jan. 21, 2012 to much fanfare.
Saturday’s festivities will include birthday cake, door prizes, scavenger hunts and the return of some favorite treats like bearclaws, fennel raisin bread, mango lime squares and varieties of hazelnut cupcakes.
The shop is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
