No injuries in Wednesday morning incident.
Alexandria police responded to an accidental gunshot early Wednesday morning at the Del Ray Central Apartments in the 3000 block of Mount Vernon Avenue.
“It was an accidental discharge,” Alexandria Police Department spokesman Jody Donaldson said.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. Wednesday. The gun, identified as a revolver, went off while the owner was handling it in a second-floor apartment. Donaldson said the owner may have been cleaning the gun.
No one was hurt in the incident. Donaldson said the person legally owned the gun.

Brilliant example as to why guns don't belong in schools. Despite people's best intentions, sh*t happens. Thank God no one was hurt.

Cleaning a gun while it is loaded is kind of hard to do, the shells get in the way of the cleaning tools.
