Grape + Bean Rosemont Opens Its Doors

Wine and coffee market to add morning hours later this spring.

Grape + Bean Rosemont is open for business.

The wine and coffee market located at 2 E. Walnut St. is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to the Grape + Bean website, these are the market’s initial hours of operation. Earlier morning hours will be added at a later date.

Like Grape + Bean on South Royal Street in Old Town, the store features artisanal and local products, including a variety of small-produced wines, craft beers, coffee and tea. The market also carries organic milk, eggs, cheeses and handmade breads.

“We think our new store will be an upgrade with the neighborhood and a little more in line with people’s preferences,” Grape + Bean co-owner David Gwathmey told Patch in July. “We hope to be a neighborhood partner for many years to come.”

The building on the corner of E. Walnut Street and Commonwealth Avenue formerly housed the Rosemont Park Market convenience store.

Grape + Bean in Old Town celebrated its fourth anniversary on Feb. 28, offering a special birthday sale and tasting.

I am sorry to be negative, but I'm a bit confused and disappointed. I have lived 2 blocks away for 8 yrs and have always dreamed of something nice for that building. Yes, I'm thrilled that the place is cleaned up and classy, BUT, does " not have dine-in options available" mean they won't be serving any of that wine or coffee? I want more than a mini Sutton Place. I want a place that my friends/neighbors and I can walk to and sit and leisurely have a glass of wine or cup of freshly brewed coffee. If this isn't what they are doing now, I sure hope they start sooner rather than later! I can already walk to Whole Foods and buy great locally roasted Coffee Beans, wine and local/microbrews, along with a wide variety of all natural/organic eggs and cheese ;-) What I CAN'T do there, is have a drink with my friends. So, I hope my neighbors will join me in asking that they please do this soon! Lastly, if you are wondering why I haven't walked the two blocks to ask them about this, it's because I didn't know they were open yet. Which is also a bit of a complaint. I just ran by last night and I saw no sign/indication that they were finally up and running. You have to let us know you are open if you want us to come in!

Julia,

I happened in on Tuesday (just walked by and noticed they were open), and the owner/manager told me that they are starting the process of getting the proper permits to serve food and drinks. He said that they wanted to take things one step at a time and gradually build in more services. While service is limited at this point (not to mention the odd "soft launch" hours), it appears they are moving in the direction the neighborhood is looking for. I encourage you to stop in and take a look; they're more than happy to tell you all about their plans for the future.

Went in the other day, excited that it was open at last - but only because of the promise of Polyface eggs (per the past article http://delray.patch.com/articles/old-town-alexandrias-grape-bean-plans-to-open-new-location). I was so sad to discover that they only had Nature's Yolk organic eggs, which I can find anywhere. :(
