Grape + Bean Rosemont Begins Weekday Morning Service

Market to open at 7 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Grape + Bean Rosemont will be kicking off weekday morning service on Thursday and Friday.

The wine and coffee market located at 2 E. Walnut St. will offer hot and iced coffee, tea, juice and fresh baked goods beginning at 7 a.m. on Thursday and Friday.

Grape + Bean Rosemont made a soft opening in March, starting service at 11:30 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The market later moved its Saturday opening time to 9 a.m.

The market received its restaurant permit in June, but ownership appears to be phasing in new services.

The permit calls for restaurant services similar to that found at Grape + Bean’s Old Town location, with a menu featuring cheese and charcuterie plates, sandwiches, salads and desserts. Beer and wine will be sold for on-premise consumption.

The restaurant is allowed to have 24 indoor seats and 36 outdoor seats. The permit says Grape + Bean is allowed to move to a seven-days-a-week schedule and be open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Seems like staying open later than 8pm - being a wine bar - might be a good business strategy.

11:30am-8:00pm lines up with a 8 hour work day. Maybe they were reluctant to expand to two shifts.

Seems like simply being open might be a good business strategy.

Good news! Grape + Bean is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Excellent coffee and wine, and great service -- staff are so helpful. I look forward to having a place to sit and to the food service.

Wait, what? A coffee shop that's open in the morning? Will wonders never cease? Maybe they should try this incredible strategy out at the S. Royal location. Every morning when I walk by on my way to get coffee somewhere else I just have to shake my head....

Me too Scot. Having moved here from Portland, Or, I'm 100% confused by a coffee shop not being open by 6 each morning. I've actually shown it to visiting friends because they were incredulous. One of them took a picture of the 'open at 11' sign and posted it to her Facebook page. She got something like 2 dozen comments laughing about it. Granted, they were from coffee addicts back in Portland, where coffee is taken seriously, but still. I guess the east coast just doesn't get it.

But the King Street and Braddock Road metro bound commuters are. Both Commonwealth and Mt. Vernon Ave are teeming around 6:30. I should, I'm one of them! Then you have the Maury parents doing drop off between 7:30 and 8:15. They're missing plenty of traffic. In the name of what? Two hours of minimum wage?
