Cheesetique Now Offering Sunday Brunch
Owner Jill Erber says the time was right to roll out a new menu in Del Ray.
Cheesetique owner Jill Erber says she has always wanted to do brunch in her Del Ray restaurant, but she just never stopped doing other things long enough to get it done.
Now, however, Cheesetique is finally open for brunch on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“I just said ‘We have to do it now!’” said Erber, who started regular brunch service in Del Ray on June 10. “It’s been a fun process. I live here and there are a lot of kids here. I just felt there’s sort of a shortage of fun things for breakfast.”
There are about a dozen “carefully chosen” new entrees on the brunch menu, Erber said. She has also carried a few favorites over from the regular menu.
The brunch menu includes different french toasts, brunch flatbread, a “fancy” frittata, chorizo home fries and steel-cut oatmeal. Erber said the kitchen has also started experimenting with some pancakes.
“Everyone has been excited, supportive and patient,” Erber said of the first few brunch shifts. “The turnout has been amazing. The customers have given us a lot of leeway as we sort through it. … It’s been fun but harrowing.”
Brunch is only available at the Cheesetique in Del Ray at this time and not the new Shirlington location.
The cheese shop at Cheesetique in Del Ray is open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
