Owner Liz Davis said she’s received media inquiries from as far away as Germany asking if Friday’s flavor of the day—Cicada Crunch—actually contains members of Brood II.

“They all really want it to contain cicadas,” she said. “Perhaps I’ll ask staff to show up at 4 a.m. Friday with butterfly nets?”

In truth, Cicada Crunch does not actually include any insect bits—much to the disappointment of curious newsmen from Cologne.

Davis said the flavor consists of frozen chocolate custard mixed with crushed Nestle’s Crunch bars, Rice Krispies, orange sprinkles and a mysterious ingredient Davis will only call “red eyes.”

Those eyes are purportedly made of red licorice, but maybe there is something to Davis’ mention of butterfly nets?

Custard fans will find out soon enough.

The Dairy Godmother is located at 2310 Mount Vernon Ave.
