Beatley Library to Host ‘Downton Abbey’ Marathon
BBC show is preparing to air its third season in the United States.
“Downton Abbey” fans, rejoice! If you’ve missed an episode or two, or just want to watch shows for previous season for a second (or third) time, Beatley Central Library is holding a “Downton Abbey” marathon later this month.
The British period drama, set in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, has attracted a large following in the United States and is preparing to air its third season on PBS in January. The library is airing seasons 1 and 2 in late December to give fans a chance to catch up on the series before season 3, which has already aired in the United Kingdom, runs in the United States beginning Jan. 6.
“Everyone’s really excited about it,” said Kevin Osborne, adult services manager for the library. “It has a giant following here in the states. Most people haven’t seen all of it, so we figured people could come and have a marathon of BBC shows.”
The “Downton Abbey” marathon will run from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 26, 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 27 and from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 28 at Beatley Central Library. Tea and biscuits will be served.
“We decided it would be a good idea to have a time where people could double-dip — come by the library and see the movies and also pick up some books to take home,” Osbourne said.
Beatley Central Library is located at 5005 Duke St. For more information, call the library at (703) 379-1251.
