Del Ray BB&T Branch to Open April 1

BB&T is aiming to open a new branch on Mount Vernon Avenue on April 1.
Construction of the new location recently began in the 1900 block of Mount Vernon Avenue in the two vacant storefronts next to Fabulous Frocks of Alexandria.

Bungalow Homewares Gallery, which closed in 2011, previously occupied one of the storefronts.
Bank officials had hoped to open the new location during the fourth quarter of 2012 but permitting issues held things up, according to BB&T Assistant Vice President Hector Hernandez.

I thought brick & mortar banks were supposed to disappear a decade ago, but I guess I was wrong. I set foot into a bank maybe 3 times a year.
