Alexandria Police Investigating Attempted Old Town Bank Robbery

Police seek help identifying suspect who attempted to rob the Bank of America.

 

The Alexandria Police Department is investigating an attempted bank robbery that occurred at the Bank of America branch located at 600 N. Washington St.

A woman entered the bank around 12:45 p.m. Wednesday and gave the teller a note demanding money. The teller backed away from the window and the suspect fled the bank. The suspect was last seen on foot heading eastbound on Pendleton Street. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as a black female, approximately 5-foot-5 with a medium build, according to the police. She was wearing a dark jacket with a navy blue and gray scarf wrapped around her head. She was wearing sunglasses.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect from the bank’s surveillance photos (attached to the right), is urged to contact Detective Sean Casey at 703-746-6853 or the APD’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 703-746-6711. Witnesses and tipsters can remain anonymous.
