Alexandria Fire Department crews responded to shed that caught on fire in the 300 block of Hume Avenue around 7 p.m. Monday.

No one was injured in the blaze.

The battalion chief on the scene said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Fire crews turned their hoses on the smoldering branches of a large tree in the home’s backyard. The shed appeared to be destroyed.

Alexandria Police had blocked off several blocks of Hume Avenue so fire crews could get to work.

A message left with the AFD’s public information officer was not immediately returned.
