ACPS to Hold Meeting on Class Rankings

T.C. Williams High School Principal Suzanne Maxey's proposal to eliminate student rankings is moving forward.

The proposal to eliminate class rankings offered by T.C. Williams High School Principal Suzanne Maxey is moving forward.

A public discussion on the issue will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Minnie Howard auditorium, 3801 Braddock Rd..

The community discussion will center on eliminating class rankings within Alexandria City Public Schools beginning with the current 9th grade class.

Maxey told the School Board in September student rankings don’t accurately measure student potential and don’t consider some things that students cannot control, such as what their peers are doing.

Fairfax and Montgomery counties don’t rank students while Loudoun and Prince Williams counties do. Some Arlington high schools rank and some don’t.
