Alexandria NAACP Awards Annual Community Service Award to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Alexandria Chapter

Alexandria, VA--The Alexandria Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. is proud to accept a Community Service Award from the Alexandria Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  The Chapter was honored at the annual NAACP Freedom Fund dinner on Sunday, October 16 at the Alexandria Hilton Mark Center, 

“We so proud and honored to be recognized by the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP,” said Krysta Jones, the Chapter’s president. “Zeta Phi Beta is committed to building effective leaders who can create innovative solutions to the issues that plague our most vulnerable communities." 

For 25 years, the Nu Xi Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. has served the Alexandria community through various programs, partnerships and donations that address the needs of the Alexandria community. The Nu Xi Zeta Chapter has an ongoing partnership with ALIVE! House where they help serve needy families through the ALIVE food distribution program and participate in the Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walk in support of ALIVE House.  The Chapter also has a partnership with Community Lodgings Inc., a local transitional housing program and assists with the mentorship, Adopt-A-Family and various other programs. 

The Nu Xi Zeta Chapter has donated over 100 items to the Carpenter’s Shelter and collected blankets and pajamas for families supported through Bethany House.  In addition, the Chapter celebrates Read Across America, which is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading, and brings together community leaders throughout the City of Alexandria.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the Nu Xi Zeta Chapter are committed to serving the City of Alexandria as well as international communities; their programs and partnerships have impacted more than 1,624 persons on a local and international level.  

The members of the Nu Xi Zeta Chapter would like to thank the Alexandria Branch of the NAACP for acknowledging the work and dedication that the Chapter has displayed to the City of Alexandria.
